Sebum is oil which is a natural lubricant of the skin that helps to moisturize and protects the skin.

There are oil glands known as the sebaceous glands that are attached to the hair follicles in the skin which can be stimulated by different factors. When these glands are stimulated the excessive oil production would lead to clogging of the skin pores when the skin cells will mature. This would be commonly known as whitehead, blackhead and zits.

So to answer the question Does chocolate cause acne? according to science the answer is no. Although science has proclaimed that eating chocolate would not cause acne, it doesnt mean that you would take this as excuse to binge on chocolates. this would mean that it would always be better if you eat chocolates in moderation.
