Do You Have Got The Guts For Accomplishment? | Dr. Dan Sindelar

by Dr. Dan Sindelar on May 2, 2012 To become truly successful, youve got to be a great leader.
Great leaders need guts. It takes guts to tell your patients they need a significant amount of dental work done when you know theyre worried how they will pay for such care. It takes courage to speak frankly with your employees when an issue needs to be addressed.
But sticking your head in the sand wont make these problems go away. Instead of dodging problems that are making you dread work, try out these three steps to better lead your team and drive your practice: Step 1: Get courageous. Its okay to be nervous when stepping into the role of a strong leader. Remember, success is achieved by being afraid to do something and doing it regardless of fear.
Step 2: Talk to your team.
Tell everyone what you expect. Tell your team what you want to see, what you absolutely wont tolerate. Hold them to those expectations.
Empower them to do their job. Reward excellence generously. Step 3: Talk to your patients. Patients who resist further care usually do so because they dont have the information to move forward.
